Chenji Restaurant, Xi’an, China - Feasibility

Dot. were asked to work alongside IPDC for a restaurant scheme in Xi’an, China. IPDC are a firm of architects and designers, based in China and distributing work to firms around the globe. Their client wanted a western spin on a traditional Chinese restaurant.

The brief was to make full use of a space that was effectively in the basement, and fairly uninviting. Dot. decided to open the whole space out by taking out dividing walls and creating a mezzanine floor over a basement level. By using a GRP ribbon that intertwined through the interior, users would be pulled down into the basement eating area
